Uni-Solve Woes

Categories: Stoma

Question:

Hi, Marym Not only does the uni-solve take off nail polish, but so does skin prep!  Since I am Very vain about my nails, (not to mention my hands getting "eaten alive" by the chemicals), I use disposable gloves on Both hands when I change my appliance.  That way I don’t have to worry about my right hand (I’m left-handed) touching something "wrong" and then having to give myself another manicure! And isn’t it great to know we’re probably not the only nuts out there worried about our nails, we just admit it! And before you others start laughing too hard, these chemicals can really do a number on your hands.  So, if you have dry skin, and especially if you’re diabetic, wearing disposable gloves is really worth it…no amount of hand lotion seems do undo the chemical damage/dryness/cracking that happens. Just remember,  doo’t take off the gloves until your entire wafer is set in place.  The powder from inside the gloves really messes up the adhesive’s sticking power to your skin! Happy and healthy hands to you all, Ann

If you use Uni-solve to remove residue from around stoma when changing appliance, BE WARNED!!  Not a good idea when wearing fingernail polish! Mary —–== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==—– http://www.dejanews.com/   Now offering spam-free web-based newsreading

Mary, Do what I do and make that the same night you do your nails!  I find that the gooey tape sticks to my nails anyway so it’s easier just to remove it the rest of the way with nail polish remover and do my nails. Lisa kocha…@concentric.net wrote in message

I found this out the hard way.  I had just had a professional manicure (something I rarely do), and I changed my appliance when I got home. Needless to say, the money I spent on the manicure went down the tubes. Since then, if I need to change my appliance when my nails are done I just put a surgical glove on my right hand (since I am right-handed and use my right hand to clean the stomal area).
