Question:
do you shower with a pouch on? I’m still not comfortable with taking it off. I’m just happy I’m not scared of my stoma anymore! Susan

Sometimes one, sometimes the other. I’ll shower with the bag off just before a change, but in between changes I shower with it on – I use a one piece so there isn’t much choice. — Bill

I always leave my pouch on when either showering or bathing, most colostomists will shower without but they have better control of their output. Many ileostomists will also shower without an appliance but will have to clean up afterwards Mark "bch m8" <dc…@webtv.net> wrote in message

I always shower without when I’m changing the wafer ( I use two-piece pouches.) In between changes I sometimes take off the pouch and shower with just the wafer, but I don’t do it all the time. To do it every once in a while makes me feel "cleaner", but it’s quicker to shower with it on (and I’m usually in a hurry in the mornings when I shower because I tend to live by the snooze button) Paul M. Susan, I felt that way about showering without my pouch for awhile after my surgery also. Then I finally got to the point where I tried showering with it off and it was wonderful!! You can just really scrub and it’s just great. Give yourself some time. Joy
Response:
Bag on. Clothes off. Unless I forget to get undressed.
