post-resection adhesions (I think)????

Categories: lIleostomy

Question:

Following (about 3 weeks after) my resection about a year ago, I experienced pains in my upper right abdominal area.  This was a different pain than the Crohn’s pain, and in a totally different area.  After blood work and ultrasounds to check for gall stones, liver disease, etc.  they found nothing, and my surgeon said it might be just adhesions.  It eventually went away. Then about a two months ago, the pains returned.  Again, same tests with a different doctor.  This time the pain moves around.  Right side, then left. Tests show same results…must be adhesions.  Oh, but now I’m anemic. So i’m put on iron.  It goes away… Two weeks ago, it returns again.  The pain never was excruciating, but merely annoying.  The pain is on the right side for a week, and is now in its third day on the left side and is increasing in intensity…almost doubling me over this morning before the two tylenol and three advil kicked in. The pain is behind and just below the bottom rib, and never has hurt on both sides at the same time. Have others experienced these adhesions? Exactly what are they…scar tissue adhering to other stuff? Can anything be done to get rid of them?  Exercise perhaps? Please help, thanks, bill Bill Richardson

I get this sort of pain from time to time, always on the left side just below the ribs, after a large meal. I’ve had my colon resected, and the operation to reverse the ileostomy took about four hours, because of adhesions.
