Does anyone get nausea before or after eating??
Question:
This is a growing problem. Before I eat, or if I wait too long to eat, I get nausea just below my rib cage, and that "funny" feeling in my throat that says I might "launch". After eating, I get nausea also. Is this related to ileostomy? I had it in 1996, this started about 6 months ago. Anyone else have it?? It’s very stong. Best– Ron

If I leave to big a gap between meals, I sometimes start to feel nauseous (sp?), ileostomy since ‘91. But my other half gets it far more often than me, and she doesn’t have an ostomy of any sort. — TedC Let your mind wander far enough and it comes back with souvenirs. – T. Pratchett

Yes, Ron! I do know that feeling. For years I’ve carried around crackers because if I don’t have a little something in there I feel like throwing up. This has been going on for a long time (way before the ostomy surgery). I thought it was irritation from meds or just my CD in action. I, don’t however feel sick AFTER I eat. Susan

Me too, years ago, I would get strong nausea if I did not eat. Had it also before my surgery. Like you, if I don’t have a little something in there I feel like throwing up. This "new" nausea is also after the meal and it is getting to me. Lasts for hours. I got some nausea pills from my Gastro Dr., I’ll see how they do. Even drinking a glass of water will cause it. Strange. When does all this end, and the good times start? Are we having fun yet? But it’s still so far better than before my Ileostomy. I almost died then.

Oh, yeah, ever since the operation, especially in the morning. My wife and I call it my own version of "morning sickness." Doesn’t happen all the time, however, and I can’t figure out any pattern to be able to predict when it’ll happen. Usually, I can take some Gaviscon if I catch it soon enough, and it’ll resolve in a few minutes. But if I don’t catch it in time, it’ll last a couple of hours, eating or not eating. Vince

Have you had your blood sugar checked ? If I forget to eat on time, I get that feeling and it lasts for a bit after I eat too. It’s very odd that you then dont’ feel like eating LOL I never imagined I’d have to force myself to eat. Brenda "Ron Gould" <r…@gould.net> wrote in message

Yep, it happens to me, and once it does, if I don’t eat I stay nauseous, if I do eat, the same, except it doesn’t last as long. Sometimes, just eating makes it come on. I just can’t get a handle on why, what these things have in common, empty and eating. Sounds confusing, I know. I am confused. Doesn’t seem to make sense to me. I’ll recheck my meds to see if there is any hint in there. Best– Ron "Vince Puma" <snick…@aug.com> wrote in message

Yes, Ron, I too get very nauseated if I don’t eat when I get really hungry. Like Susan, I don’t know if it’s the ostomy or the CD. Maybe because for so many years the thought of food made me feel sick! If I wait too long, I will feel sick even after I eat. I’ve learned to head for food when I get very hungry. I’ve found that if I eat something light, like yogurt, I can eat a more substantial meal in a little while. Also, those nutrient drinks, like Ensure, will get me past the nausea and then I can eat a normal meal. Love & Peace, Connie
